当长臂挖掘机怠速时，车辆发动机水温显示很高，电力风机、汽车发动机噪音、温度过高吹空调等事故比较常见。这几类情况在长臂挖掘机维修时先直接给车辆的冷凝器和储水箱清理灰尘，确保会整不会影响冷凝器和储水箱良好的导热特性，在平时的时候也可以是不是清理冷凝器和储水箱之间的灰尘。

在挖掘机车辆本身温度很高的时候吹空调，车身怠速抖动会很大，这时候车辆急加速也会显得很无力，可能还会有发动机异响等情况出现。在维修时，看看储水箱的上下管道的温度有没有比较明显的差别，若温度差别大，则需要检查节温器和水泵有没有发振。挖掘机正常工作时上下管道的温度尽量保持一致。

在挖掘机刚刚停止作业车身还处于高温时，应熄火停止一刻钟左右再启动，因为热车在重新启动时可能会自动熄火。如果出现自动熄火的情况，可以先启动挖掘机进行热天气寒冷还需要将长臂挖掘机的冷却系统好好保养，一般情况给冷却系统灌一定量的防冻液即可。防冻液的更换周期一般情况是12年，虽说更换周期长，但还是应当对防冻液进行检查，确认其是否正常。

在冬季时，不要忘了给长臂挖掘机补水，虽然挖掘机只是一台机械，但是为了让挖掘机在工作时有能力抵抗冷空气，每天都要为挖掘机进行补水工作。当然补水也有补水的技巧，在放水时应将残留水分清理干净，如果长臂挖掘机刚刚工作完，机体温度很高就不能太早放掉冷却水，会导致机体涨裂。
